The Wolf’s Story
The Wolf of Wall Street was purchased at the 2015 Landmark Classic sale by Ray Heslin and Kelli Thomas with the intention of setting him up with solid foundations for a career in the Campdraft and Challenge industry. The Wolf (as he is affectionately known) then spent the next 3 months in various vet centres having his semen collected.
He then went to leading cutting trainer Todd Graham for the next 5 months where he went into work and Todd was impressed with how cowy he was. After he finished his time with Todd it was off to the wide open spaces to muster with Emma O’Shea, who took a little guidance from Ian Francis along the way.
The Wolf learnt all about mustering, tailing weaners, mustering with helicopters, dogs and bikes all over NSW, Northern QLD and The Gulf. The breeding season was a great success with The Wolf covering nearly 50 mares in his first year at stud – especially when you consider that the colt had just turned 3YO. The Wolf has proved himself to be a gentleman and a pleasure to be around, having being well travelled from mustering camps to campdrafts and we believe this exceptional young horse has now had all the foundations for an exciting career in the Campdraft/Challenge arena.
This horse has a real presence about him and we believe he is set to become a sire of the future with the likes of Acres Destiny, Doc’s Freckles Oak, Hazelwood Conman and Warrenbri Romeo all in his pedigree.
Mareeba Stock Horse Challenge 3yrs and under. The Wolf won all five disciplines to name him the overall Champion.
