Shield Calypso was broken in 2016 and had four months work in autumn a break during winter and  further work in August September October.

Shield Calypso's training was cut short to take a service to the acclaimed stallion Seligman Spin with the intention of breeding a palomino filly. Calypso was joined on 12th December 2016 and was PTIF 135 days 19/04/2017. 

While in training Calypso showed a cool temperament and natural ability with smooth gaits a soft mouth and presence.Her sire Royalle Heartacre was led champion ASH at Toowoomba,Brisbane and Sydney with multiple supreme's to his name and an able camphorse from limited starts.

Calypso's dam Shield Lara a novice campmare by ELLIOTTS CK CADET wascampdrafted successfully by a thirteen year old girl. Lara carries a double cross of CADET through her great granddam Andra an open campmare and SEQCPA zone champion who placed second in the Canning Downs. Calypso's granddam Christa by Shogun a full brother to NABINABAH BREEZETTE was not drafted due to an injury.

Calypso's siblings are Shield Zarina a Novice mare with a win and five places, Royalle Sargent winner of the $1,000 Rocky Rush Gold Buckle draft. Shield Marina an athletic mare who has had two starts and going well, a very classy unbroken chesnut filly and a yearling colt both by Seligman Spin.A quality colt was sold by Cattleray for $11,000 but unfortunatly is deceased.

Calypso is an upstanding showy young mare with ability and sound bloodlines.She should breed a stylish foal and return to training and competition.
