HIGHLIGHTCAT is a son of the legendary HIGH BROW CAT, the #1 all-time leading cutting horse sire whose get have taken to the bank over $41 million. HIGHLIGHTCAT changed hands in 2010 for $340,00, which would have been a lot of money back then! He had a consistent show record in both the open and non-pro divisions as noted below. BEAU GALYEAN also piloted his paternal ½ brother METALLIC CAT through his illustrious career and retained 10 breedings to HIGHLIGHTCAT. His progeny have excelled in cutting, cowhorse, reining, timed events in the States.
Beau also rode HIGHLIGHTCAT to his 2004 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Reserve Championship. You have to think he knows a good horse when he rides one! And as if the top side of the pedigree wasn't enough, the bottom side boasts the great GRAYS STARLIGHT, the multi-million dollar producing sire of NCHA, NRCHA and NRHA money-earners.

Double High's dam Erin Crackin Double Spin has a double cross of our favourite Docs Spinifex, being by Docs Crackin Oak, and out of a really good Docs Spinifex mare. This particular mare line has had enormous success in the cutting pen, and excepional progeny are still popping up with this great bottom line.
Double Spin was a quirky mare, would walk in the house, eat a beer or a burger, but was a great athlete. She acted a tad hot and busy, but didn't need a big warm up, and once on a cow she was 100% on fire. She was a regular 24 yard mare, and was a tough campdrafter. She Challenged well, drafted better, had plenty of speed and could proper rate a cow. She was a tall lean fine type of mare, who won us a lot and gave us a lot of fun.
We got some embryo foals out of her whist still competing, all colts.
Rhondhu Double Spark was an awesome Challenger bought and shown by Ken May. Ken & Anita loved him and were devastated at his untimely death as a 5yo. We were lucky to get a beautiful palomino filly by Spark before we sold him, she's now in our Competition Mare paddock.
Rhondhu Cracker Spark was going to be Challenged in 2020, but Covid stopped that. He was a very cowy gelding, and had a super dry work on him too.
Rhondhu Rhondhu Purple Spin was a smaller type of purple roan colt by Ima Smooth Blue Cat, purchased by Nathan Sheehan. Due to Covid he didn't get his chance to show last year but Nathan told us he is a proper athlete, and sent us some amazing photos of him getting in the ground on a cow.
We then retired Double, and bred Cats Double High as an embryo, then naturally bred her next cycle to Seligman Spin. She had a palomino filly (finally a filly that will not be sold ever), but unfortunately she was destroyed a month later due to complications from being incorrectly fed by a young naive staff girl who thought she'd feed her lots of Bio Mare since she was so special with a special foal to rear.
Anyway, the other colts are now geldings, so its up to Double High and our poddy Pearl to continue Double's amazing genetic influence.
Double High would be sitting on 45-50 rides TOTAL (including breaking in) by Sale Day. He was started old school by good old bush horseman Bob Gray in November, He then had 2 weeks off and Matt rode him until Christmas Eve. We spelled him again until the 1st week of January, and he's been rode 6 days a week since.
He did a bunch of outside riding the first 2 weeks Jan, as we had good rain and the arena was a pool. Once it dried he was started on buffalo and a mechanical cow, and we are so impressed with how far he has come in such a short time!
He is a good traveller, will have plenty of speed, has a good park, is very trainable, and a great size for a 2yo. He's a fine type of horse like his Dam, has a long fine reining, free shoulders, a good hip, and will mature into a really nice colt.
He is perfect to do anything with, and will be a lovely sire in every respect.
