Wood Spin Sheriff is a kind, naturally quiet, trainable minded filly, who will be big enough to start under saddle straight after winter, if not now actually, she's big enough. Maybe just needs some time for her knees to set considering she will grow big.
She will grow into a lovely big mare, just a bit gangly going through a growth spurt atm, like most of the progeny of big sires do.
Very well handled; ties, leads of horse and bike, good to bath, clip mane, pick up feet. She's a playful filly on the lunge, but still quite respectful.
She has correct legs, good feet, and no issues at all. Had a trim last week and was very good to trim.
Woodford Cat is an AQHA registered Thoroughbred! He is sired by Tale of the Cat, Stakes winner of $360,000, sire of progeny who have won $30 million. In turn his sire, Storm Cat won $570,000 himself and stood with a service fee of $500,000 at one point, reduced back to $300,000 in later years.
The worth of this lineage in the QH industry is evident, being used as an outcross by some of the top cutters in USA mares like NCHA Horse of the Year in Hicapoo, and Playin Stylish's dam Playboys Mom!
Rhondhu Stud has the AUS ownership of the few doses of frozen semen left here, and WC himself is now owned by Barrel Racing interests in Brazil.
Woodford Cat has sired many successful cutters, cowhorses, barrel racers and ropers in the States, and so far there are only 6 fillies born in Australia including this one. Two of these are broken in and have started nicely for barrel racing and cattle working events.
Most of his foals are black or deep brown, so getting a buckskin was a bonus, they're are all a good size, with kind, trainable quiet minds.
What a beautiful dam this filly has! Su was injured at a trainers in the year post breaking, then a year later recovered, and put her with another trainer to catch her up, and was injured and out for another year again. She was now so far behnd others her age, and we had so many to ride, we put her in the broodmare band.
But prior to that we started her on cattle. AMAZING! In hindsight now we should've kept riding her. But her foals are doing her justice.Su is a big burnt buckskin mare in height and width. Has a big heart, and a proper firendly mare mentally. She stops hard, has a big move on a cow in the cutout yard, and travelled well outside. She was a real horses to ride. If we didn't have so many to ride, she would fit back in to compete no worries.
Su is by Shining Sheriff out of our grande old Docs Spinifex mare Spins Susie Bay. Barry drafts and loves her full sister Rhondhu Shiners Suzanna. Susie is also the dam of Rhondhu Savannah Acres, by Acres Destiny, now in her retirement year of drafting with Barry.
Su has an outstanding embryo buckskin colt near ready to wean by Granite, and embryo coming by the Condon's Gypsy Man, and is PTIF to that incredible USA Cowhorse Futurity winner SDP Hy Rey Bound (dec) USA.
