Edit the height, we think Crackin Wood will mature over 15Hh easily, with 15.1Hh being our guess.
Crackin Wood is a late season foal, born in March 2023, but give her time and some feed and she will grow. She is a kind, naturally quiet, trainable minded filly, with a real nice pedigree. She has a bit of sass about her, has a cautious attitude, but is very quiet and intelligent to train on.
Very well handled; ties, leads off horse and bike, good to bath, clip mane, pick up feet. She has correct legs, good feet, and no issues at all. She has impressed us how quickly she has picked up pattern on lunging and even her handling in general, as she was brought in way later than the other yearlings for sale prep as a late entry.
She has also stacked on the kgs in a short time, so going to be a very good do-er. She is a nice minded filly with other horses, no nastiness at all.
Woodford Cat is an AQHA registered Thoroughbred! He is sired by Tale of the Cat, Stakes winner of $360,000, sire of progeny who have won $30 million. In turn his sire, Storm Cat won $570,000 himself and stood with a service fee of $500,000 at one point, reduced back to $300,000 in later years.
The worth of this lineage in the QH industry is evident, being used as an outcross by some of the top cutters in USA mares like NCHA Horse of the Year in Hicapoo, and Playin Stylish's dam Playboys Mom!
Rhondhu Stud has the AUS ownership of the few doses of frozen semen left here, and WC himself is now owned by Barrel Racing interests in Brazil.
Woodford Cat has sired many successful cutters, cowhorses, barrel racers and ropers in the States, and so far there are only 6 fillies born in Australia including this one. Two of these are broken in and have started nicely for barrel racing and cattle working events.
Most of his foals grow to a good size, with kind, trainable quiet minds.
What a beautiful dam this filly has, with a bit of a story... By Appointment (nicknamed Royal by us) was purchased as an ACA Rookie Horse prospect.
We really loved her younger sister that we should have bought, which steered us to looking at Royal. AND Royal's mother is a FULL SISTER to our beloved DOCS CRACKIN OAK. We also tried to buy her great grandmother Yuligilbar Brandy Snap about 20+ years ago for a significant $ figure, but the owner wouldn't part with her. He then bred her to the USA NCHA Futurity winner in Royal Fletch, with the resultant foal being Royal's sire, Royal True Blue, who we think did not get a chance at a career due to injury too.
With the previous owner, By Appointment competed in the NCHA Open Futurity and the Non-Pro Cutting Futurity. We purchased her a year after that. She arrived with a noticable lump on one knee, and was marginally lame. The owner said 'nope no issues, no lump on leaving, must bumped it on the truck, never been overworked, no injuries, if lame must be from the bump or sore feet from travelling'.
We shod her, kept her on pain relief, rode her for about 4 weeks and she just got lamer. BUT in that 4 weeks, what a great mare on a cow! Great in the yard. Great outside. Was sure gunna have some fun on her!
Turns out she had MAJOR spurs in both knees. All the damage was noted as being at least 12 mths old based on the bone density scans. Surgery on both knees eventuated with one good knee and one trashed fused knee. Expensive Broodmare only! And a note to never buy from this notable breeder again.
Royal's first foal is Rhondhu Royal Metal (gelding by Moore Metal) is owned by Alex Hills, who now works for us. She loves him and ran some big scores on him in his first futurity starts last year.
Royal's 2nd foal is Rhondhu Talka Bout Style (filly by Smooth Talkin Style) is an OUTSTANDING filly, catalogued as Lot 55 in this same Sale. We love Talka, another one who has exceded our expectations by a country mile.
This filly is Royal's 3rd foal, and based on the foals Royal is now producing, she should be a corker too.
Royal's 4th foal is an outstanding red roan filly by Shines Like Metallic.
Royal is a very fertile mare, and is currently in foal to Six Spins.
